Bookmetro
Remember what you read: book notes, your own questions, spaced repetition review.
Every book a line, every chapter a stop.
Maker's note
Two things started it. I wanted to remember more of what I read, and I wanted reading in the car to be easier — trying to read on the road made me carsick. I set out to see what I could do about it, and this is what came out.
I cannot claim I solved the carsickness; that one is still open. The remembering half looks like it will work: at the end of a chapter you write your own question without turning back, and your answer returns on a spaced schedule, a day later, a week later, a month later.
Which is why there is no summary and no AI in it. Something that remembers for you does not make you remember. There is no promise either — it counts how much you recalled from your own reviews, and it will not show a number until you have answered ten cards.
What it does
Your books as a metro map
Every book is a numbered line and every chapter a stop. You see where you are, how many stops are left and roughly how long they take. Depending on why you are reading the book, you mark each chapter read, skim or skip. Review is the interchange: when cards are waiting, the map says so.
Read the way you read
EPUB, PDF and FB2 open in the built-in reader, with a page view for PDFs. For a paper book you photograph the contents page and the app turns it into a list of chapters you can correct, recognising the text on the phone itself. Kindle highlights and notes come in from My Clippings.txt. Easy reading mode gives you larger, bolder text at full contrast.
At the end of each chapter
Without looking back, you ask yourself a question and answer it in your own words. Prompts get you started: what is the main idea, why, how, give an example. Writing the question yourself is part of the method — a ready-made question does the remembering for you.
Review that comes back at the right time
Your answers return as cards: a day later, a few days later, a week, a month. You try to recall first, then see what you wrote and grade yourself. The reminder is optional — at most once a day, only when cards are due, at the hour you choose.
What stayed: your own numbers
The app measures how much you actually remembered from your own reviews: of the cards asked at least a day after you read, how many you recalled, split into 1–7, 8–30 and 31+ days. No number before ten answers, no estimates, no comparison with anyone else. Reading speed appears only beside that figure, never as a goal.
